Interior design was always a big part of my life, and having the chance to live in Manchester, my inspiration never faded. Its art scene and time-less beauty kept me on my toes, always keen to find more stunning buildings, old and new.
Architect Thomas Heatherwick which studied Manchester Metropolitan University has always been an inspiration, and attending the same university as him would certainly push my boundaries and give me a confidence boost in the hope that one day, I will produce work as beautiful as his. The excellent facilities, great teaching, strong academic background and its varied links to the creative industry have put M.M.U at the top of my list. I would like to study for a degree in Interior Design not only to pursue my future career, but also to further develop my knowledge and the understanding of the never ending horizon of interior design.

Layers: Shells

Materials used: Inks, pastels, chalk, colour pencils, masking tape, plastic.
For my latest brief, I have visited blackpool beach, and looked at many different shapes of shells. I wanted to explore the different dimentions, and how a 3D object could be transfered onto a 2d drawing and still look 3D.
I took the shape of the shell and made a spiral plastic moulding which inspired me to create a staircase.

Photography: Lights

For this photography brief, we were asked to look at the meaning behind the word "decay", and to expand on its significance. The word decay means "a gradual falling into an inferior condition; progressive decline" which can be seen as a negative thing, but I wanted to demonstrate in my work that decay can also be viewed in a positive light. That is why I chose to explore the decay of light, which meant that I got to experiment with gradual light that photoshop helped me with.

Oil painting: Manchester Iconic buildings

Oil painting
In May 2010, I entered a competition organised by Manchester firm SLS Solicitors and was faced with a challenge to come up with artwork measuring one metre square that could be displayed within the company’s offices for one year. I was nominated third and won many awards.

Life Drawing

Materials used: acrylic, inks, graphite and charcoal.
Life drawing taught me a great deal of skills, such scaling down and understanding the human body in proportion to a room.

Cultural Journeys: Food of India

Materials used: Water colours, inks, sewing on top.

Materials used: card, water colour, threads.
My first brief as a second year student was a live brief, based on “Stories of the world”, one of the ten major projects as the heart of the cultural Olympiad. I was inspired by the essence of asia, and looked at foods that symbolised India. This brief put my patience to the test due to the limited time we had to submit our work to the client.

Textiles: Market Mayhem

Materials used: omni-chrome, vanishing fabric, glue, water colours, dye.
For this textile unit, the brief, "market-mayhem" inspired me to use fruits and vegetables.
The colours of nature are really bright and fun, therefore I wanted to convey the same feeling with colourful threads and decorative techniques.
